Configure the Butterflive Widget

First contact with the Butterflive widget

This section describes how to set-up the Butterflive widget. If you have not done so, please download and install it before.
The Butterflive widget is an application that is loaded in your system's taskbar. You can tell Butterflive is loaded by looking at the small icon with a butterfly in your taskbar:

The icon is gray () if the Butterflive widget is not connected, and turns green () when a connection is established.
When you first install Butterflive, the icon will be gray because you must first configure the widget. The preferences screen will be displayed. If you want to go back to the preferences screen later, you can do it any time by right clicking on the taskbar icon and selecting "Preferences" in the menu.

In the "Preferences" screen, you can enter your credentials to connect to the Butterflive service:

  • The "User name" field should contain your Butterflive login. This is usually your email address.
  • The "Password" field should contain your Butterflive password.
  • The "Nickname" field contains the name that will be shown to your website visitors. This is usually your first name.
  • By checking the "Start on login" checkbox, Butterflive will automatically start each time you start your computer. If you do not check this box, you will have to start Butterflive manually from the start menu each time you want to access your Butterflive.

    • When you're done, click the "Save" button to save your preferences.

      Each time you change your preferences, you must restart Butterflive for the changes to take effect. To restart Butterflive: right click on the taskbar icon and click on "Exit". Then, in the start menu, select Butterflive to start it again.
